Instead of a few economical crack repairs, you will likely be faced with full-depth patches to replace areas of alligator cracking and repair the foundation.

How Do You Repair Cracks in Asphalt Pavements?

The most cost-effective, longest-lasting repair method is asphalt crack sealing. We start by determining what caused the cracks to develop. Many times, it is simply the aging process; over time, the weather and traffic can inflict enough damage to cause pavements to crack. However, poor drainage, a lack of sealcoating, or the underlying soil can result in cracking. Once we know why the pavement cracked, we can advise whether you need to take additional steps to eliminate the cause. Otherwise, we clean out the crack to remove dirt, vegetation, and debris. Next, we smooth the sides of the crack to ensure a strong bond between the sealant and the asphalt. We may extend the crack sealant a short distance around the crack.

Crack sealing is a long-lasting repair that can often outlast the rest of the pavement. Part of the reason for this longevity is that the material used for crack sealing is flexible, so it and the pavement move together when temperature fluctuations make the pavement expand or contract.
